Project Challenge

Create a Fully Anechoic Acoustic Chamber with a Very Low Cutoff Frequency and Loudspeaker Array

Engineered solution

How we solved it

IAC provided a turnkey Microdyne fully anechoic chamber integrated within the existing concrete room. The solution incorporated on-site RF shielding measurements in accordance with EN 50147-1 and a dedicated rotation system for a 19-channel loudspeaker array, enabling controlled acoustic testing within the chamber. A specialised basket-door system was installed to accommodate the anechoic acoustic absorbers, with a cut-off frequency of 50 Hz. A heavy-duty grating floor was also provided to support increased loads while maintaining access to the chamber’s internal systems. The background noise level and free-field performance were also measured and fully complied with the requirements of ISO 3745 for fully anechoic chambers.
