Project Challenge

Immersive Atmosphere Studio: Designed for Sound, Movement and Performance

  • OPEN RIDE required a purpose-built acoustic studio for an innovative fitness concept combining indoor cycling, high-level music, live-performance elements and immersive lighting. The 62 m² room had to integrate into the architectural concept while controlling airborne sound, reverberation and structural vibration — without compromising the space required for participants, instructors and technical equipment.

Engineered solution

How we solved it

AC Acoustics designed and supplied a modular acoustic studio measuring approximately 8.25 × 7.50 m internally, with a room height of 3.22 m. The studio uses a specially adapted version of the Noise-Lock® II panel system, combined with an STC 53 acoustic door and a vibration-isolated floating floor.

The enclosure incorporates 88 modified acoustic panels with highly absorptive internal surfaces. The panel system achieves an NRC rating of 0.95, with absorption coefficients reaching 1.00 from 125 Hz to 8 kHz, helping control amplified music and reverberation within the studio.

What the project delivered

The completed facility provides OPEN RIDE with a dedicated acoustic environment for high-energy indoor cycling sessions, amplified music and immersive lighting performances. Approximately 300 m of LED pixel lighting was integrated throughout the room, while the internal panel surfaces were finished in RAL 9005 matt black to complement the immersive visual concept.

Sound-insulating Noise-Lock® II panels, highly absorptive internal surfaces, an acoustic access door and the vibration-isolated floating floor help contain airborne sound, vibration and structure-borne noise while maintaining controlled acoustic conditions inside the studio.

Designed to accommodate up to 24 participants and three instructors, the finished space combines professional noise control with the comfort, visual character and functionality required for a modern commercial fitness studio.
